The alliance was subsequently extended for the regional elections and the presidential election and the subsequent parliamentary election. The PCF's support had declined in years prior to the formation of the Left Front, and it hit a historic low in the presidential electionin which the PCF candidate, national secretary Marie-George Buffetwonvotes 1.
The PCF's strategy since had been to actively reach out to social movements, trade unions, left-wing activists, and the plethora of small left-wing parties to the left of the PS, particularly Olivier Besancenot 's New Anticapitalist Party NPA.
Although Besancenot was not receptive to participation in the new PCF-PG alliance he required guarantees on complete independence from the PS and expanding the alliance to the regional electionsa significant dissenting minority within the NPA, led by Christian Picquet 's Unitarian Leftsupported such a common list and split from the NPA to join the new Left Front.
Out of the seven constituencies in which the FG nominated lists, three were led by members of the PCF, three by members of the PG, while one was led by someone unaffiliated with either party. The lists included PCF members For the European elections, the Left Front proposed: .
The Left Front and the Alliance of the Overseas won a combined 1, votes 6. In all, they elected 5 MEPs. All components of the FG pronounced themselves in favour of a continuation and expansion of the alliance for the regional electionswith the intention of attracting other left-wing parties particularly the NPA.
The PCF, PG, and GU announced, in a joint statement, their intention to create a permanent liaison committee for the FG, and build a shared platform with the goal of entrenching the FG as a political force.
Negotiations with the NPA, once again, failed. The FG ran autonomous and independent lists in the first round in 17 out of 22 regions in metropolitan France and Corsica. In 5 regions however, PCF members voted against the formation of autonomous lists and opted to back the PS following the first round, these regions were BrittanyBurgundyChampagne-ArdenneLorraineand Lower Normandy. The PCF's decision to endorse the PS incumbents following the first round in these five regions led to internal dissent within the party, and was met with the PG's opposition.
The Left Front won 1, votes 5. The PG won 17, and the GU took 7. The PCF's leadership conceded that the FG had not won as many seats as they had hoped for, but they imputed the blame on FG's decision to run independently inthe PCF ran fewer autonomous lists, hence winning more seats by allying by the PS by the first round as well as the growing weight of Europe Ecology — The Greens EELV within the left-wing bloc.
However, what was considered a relatively poor result, in addition to the PCF's seat losses, created tensions and recriminations within the FG. The FG signaled its intention to run as many common candidates as it could in the cantonal elections.
The PCF, despite its decline nationally, had maintained a strong presence at the local level, including in General Councils cantonal elections elect the General Councils of every Department. The component parties of the FG decided to run a single, common candidate in the presidential election. On 5 June, the PCF's national delegates approved, with His open-air meetings were successful, attracting crowds of up topeople in Paris 18 March and Marseille 14 April.
Given his slight underperformance compared to the last polls, alongside Marine Le Pen's overperformance, the result was viewed as a relative disappointment by many FG members.
On 24 April, the FG refused to participate in common meetings with other left-wing parties to support Hollande's candidacy but called for a mass demonstration on 4 May to defeat Sarkozy. The FG, which was defending 19 seats in the legislative electionsran candidates in almost every constituency in France out of seats. The FG called on other left-wing parties, including the PS and EELV, to form a 'common front' in about 60 constituencies where they foresaw a high risk that the left would be absent from the runoff, which they feared would instead oppose the far-right National Front FN to the right-wing Union for a Popular Movement UMP.
In the first round, FG candidates won 1, votes 6. Although the FG's result was better than the PCF's result in the last legislative elections in where it had won 4. Notwithstanding the tradition of mutual withdrawal, incumbent deputy Patrick Braouezec in the Seine-Saint-Denis did not withdraw, forcing the FG to un-endorse him. Nevertheless, this was an isolated case - all other FG candidates who had qualified for the runoff but placed second behind a left-wing candidate dropped out; the few PS candidates in a mirror situation did likewise.
An ideologically heterogeneous coalition, the FG has been described as a communist, left-wing, radical left, anti-liberal left, anti-capitalist left or far-left party. The FG also supports same-sex marriagesame-sex adoptionvoting rights for resident foreignerseuthanasiaand constitutional recognition of a woman's right to have an abortion. Brian Peters, our digital marketing strategist, uses the various content formats for different marketing purposes. Our Instagram posts are for driving brand awareness and engagement while our Instagram Stories and live videos are for sharing educational content.
Instead, each brand has their own perfect time to post. With Instagram analytics, you can find your perfect posting times. With Instagram Insights from the Instagram app, you can tell the days when your followers are most active and the average times they are on Instagram on a typical day. For instance, our followers seem to be most active on Sunday and from about 9 pm to 6 am SGT (or 8 am ET to 5 pm ET, working hours in the East Coast) for most days of the week.
Using the Instagram Insights, you can easily tell which are your top posts and stories based on impressions, reach, and engagement. Once you have sorted your top posts, do you notice any trends. For instance, our giveaway posts tend to generate the most comments while user-generated landscape photos usually receive the most engagement. To drive more engagement, we can continue to post landscape photos from our community.
For example, if most of your followers are females aged 35-44 who like to design, can you create content that resonates with them more than the rest of your followers. You can also use your Instagram Stories data to improve your stories. Instagram Insights from the Instagram app provides data such as impressions, exits, and replies, which you can use to tell better stories. For example, our story on creating a custom graphic within Canva received more impressions than other recent stories, and our Instagram Stories takeover by HubSpot on productivity tips received more replies than other recent stories.
We can also dive into a particular story: Most people exited our video marketing stats story at the first photo so perhaps we could work on the headline for the next story.
What does your Instagram Stories data tell you. Is there a type of stories that tends to do better than the rest. Is there a common point when most of your followers exit your stories. Since Instagram allows only one link (in the bio), marketers would usually have a call-to-action (CTA) in their Instagram posts to direct followers to the link in their bio.

You could change your CTA on a weekly basis and see if the number of website clicks increases. As a refresher, website clicks are the number of taps on the link in your bio. Alternatively, you could use Bitly or similar link shorteners with tracking capabilities for the link in your bio to track the number of clicks. Combined with our understanding of our followers, these Instagram insights can enable us to create more valuable and engaging content for our audience. We had a lot of trouble deciding on which tour to do and Sara was very patient in answering our questions and provided excellent advice on what she thought would be the best tour for what we wanted and in the time we had.
I couldn't have asked for more from Sara, she went above and beyond to help us, and I'm very grateful for all she did as everything ran so smoothly which no doubt made the trip more enjoyable. I could not have organised such an awesome trip myself all the way from Australia.
I wanted to go to Longyearbyen, the northernmost town in the world, on an island about 1,000 miles north of Oslo, Norway, in December. I knew nothing about preparing for a trip like that, including what to wear for the Arctic cold weather. Luckily, I found Nordic Visitor. Kolbrun helped identify a number of activities for me to do (including dogsledding), and arranged for a great hotel, airport pickup, etc. She was very patient with me (I had tons of questions) and gave me great guidance on how to dress and prepare for the trip in general and the specific activities.
I received a great itinerary in advance, detailing where to meet tour guides every day, etc. The trip went without a hitch. One activity (snowmobiling) was cancelled due to weather, and I received a very prompt refund for the activity shortly after I got back. I did the Iceland Winter World tour. It hit up all of the big attractions and diverse natural beauty of Iceland.
Loved the Golden Circle tour and the Blue Lagoon spa, especially. The tour guides were friendly, informative, warm, and professional. The tours were so organized and streamlined - you could explore, relax, and enjoy yourself, without stressing about coordinating anything. Shoutout to Larus at Nordic Visitor - he's awesome and was always available to answer my questions as quickly as possible.
Alexandra was really helpful when our flight was delayed and we were messed around by the airline. Even though our flight did not arrive till gone midnight (9 hours late. The maps and books provided were excellent and allowed us to plan our time and get the most out of the holiday. Overall the accommodation was excellent and experience was amazing. We had a wonderful holiday in Iceland thanks to Nordic Visitor. What an amazing country. I have eaten Puffin, Horse and Reindeer which I hadn't done in the past.
We saw the Northern Lights, geysers, glaciers, and waterfalls. My wife and I decided to go to Iceland for our honeymoon, and spent some time researching various travel agencies that would help you book a tour of the country.
We decided to go with Nordic Visitor's "Winter Romance" package, and it was just perfect. Nordic Visitor was very thorough in booking lots of wonderful places for us to travel to (in our own rental car, rather than on a tour bus or something), and took all the stress out of trying to plan the tour ourselves. Corresponding with them was fast and easy and they made sure we had everything necessary in order to have the best trip possible.
If you decide to plan a similar trip with them, I'd definitely recommend opting for some of the optional activities -- snowmobiling on a glacier is something we'll never forget.
Hotel choices were very good as far as location and amenities. Helena was very helpful in making the booking process quick and easy. Helena made some in-trip adjustments for us that were very helpful. Hotels were fabulous with a great view in almost all of them. The travel agent was amazing. I booked my trip with him two days before I arrived in Iceland and it was like it had been planned way in advance.
He did a great job in determining my tours and was very helpful with organizing my schedule. I had all my travel documents with custom travel booklet including my itinerary, map, and top places to visit in Iceland waiting for me at the hotel when I arrived.
I absolutely loved my trip to Iceland and did not want to leave. While you can initiate many of these measures yourself, an addiction is hard to beat on your own, especially when temptation is always within easy reach. It can be all too easy to slip back into old patterns of usage. To help you identify your problem areas, keep a log of when and how much you use your smartphone for non-work or non-essential activities.
There are specific apps that can help with this, enabling you to track the time you spend on your phone (see the Resources section below). Are there times of day that you use your phone more.
Are there other things you could be doing instead. The more you understand your smartphone use, the easier it will be to curb your habits and regain control of your time. Recognize the triggers that make you reach for your phone. If you are struggling with depression, stress, or anxiety, for example, your excessive smartphone use might be a way to self-soothe rocky moods. Understand the difference between interacting in-person and online. Human beings are social creatures.
The inner ear, face, and heart are wired together in the brain, so socially interacting with another person face-to-facemaking eye contact, responding to body language, listening, talkingcan make you feel calm, safe, and understood, and quickly put the brakes on stress. Interacting through text, email or messaging may feel important but it bypasses these nonverbal cues so can never have the same effect on your emotional well-being. Besides, online friends can't hug you when a crisis hits, visit you when you're sick, or celebrate a happy occasion with you.
Strengthen your support network. Set aside dedicated time each week for friends and family. If you are shy, there are ways to overcome social awkwardness and make lasting friends without relying on social media or the Internet.
To find people with similar interests, try reaching out to colleagues at work, joining a sports team or book club, enrolling in an education class, or volunteering for a good cause. Build your coping skills. Perhaps tweeting, texting or blogging is your way of coping with stress or angry feelings. Or maybe you have trouble relating to others, or are excessively shy with people in real life and find it easier to communicate with people online.
Building skills in these areas will help you weather the stresses and strains of daily life without relying on your smartphone. Recognize any underlying problems that may support your compulsive behavior. Have you had problems with alcohol or drugs in the past.
Does anything about your smartphone use remind you of how you used to drink or use drugs to numb or distract yourself.
